How to start with Gua Sha:
You first must start with an oil. We have many oils to chose from on our site, one is also a cleansing oil. Feel free to read the benefits of each one and chose one that best suits your needs. We are so excited to get started with you.
Start at the décolletage. Your going to want to make sure that area is nice and oiled. Now make sure your Gua Sha is at a 45 degree angle. Start in the middle of your chest, moving the tool towards your armpit and shoulder area. Use medium pressure and listen to your body, its will tell you what pressure is good for you. You’ll also get used to the areas you hold the most tension, love on those areas.
Now I take the Gua Sha, starting at the top part of the back area of the neck, oiled, and take the Gua Sha gently down. This motion should be medium pressure. This is where I personally found the most tension and fell involve with these methods. Listen to your body, it will tell you where you need the most time and attention.
Using the curved area of your Gua Sha, take it from your chin back to your base jawline. This is not only going to sculpt your jaw, its also going to aid in lymphatic draining and fluid retention. Its one of my favorite spots to work.
Use your Gua Sha in an upward movement on the face. You can go side to side on your marionette lines and the area between the brows we like to call the “11 lines”. I also recommend using the curved edging around the eyes to help them reduce tension and instantly brighten them.
Most importantly, take time to get to know where your body holds tension. The more intentional you are with your skin the more benefits you will find in this holistic approach. I am so glad you are taking this time for yourself, you are worth it.
This process can be done up to 5 times a week and I recommend taking about 10-20 minutes. About the time it would take to grab a cup of coffee to go and the benefits of doing this, can change your outlook on the whole day.
